[Free Textbooks] Competing for the Cup (Ride, #2) Author Bobbi J.G. Weiss – Multi-channel.co

It is time to work even harder, the cup is coming and every house wants it The second book, and I quite enjoyed it Sure, I had quite a few issues with several things that happened in this book From Lady Covington to Anya to Will But there were also a lot of good things and plus I just flew through this book. The book starts off pretty exciting and I was quite worried for Rudy You know the prank the guys pulled with the Guys Well, they hid them all in the stable, however the stable couldn t hold it and thus things went to hell Yup Horses scared, people hurt The consequences will definitely come to the guys who did it Though I have to say I had expecteddire consequences, something like suspension And yes, the punishment that the boys and Will, especially Will, got were pretty dire, it still felt small compared to the event that happened Kit is such a spirited girl, and I really like her and how she never gives up Even with TK now in total scaredy mode due to what happened at the beginning, she keeps going and is helped out by her friends and a mysterious well, I knew right away who it was note writer She tries her best to figure out TK and his fears And she even tries her hardest during training, even if it is with Elaine, the mean girl of the school I also loved her alternative tea time, with bbq, burgers, andI am happy that this girl at least tried, even if the response wasn t so good I loved seeing her together with her dad, and I could also understand her sadness confusion when she saw him have dinner with Sally.I am also delighted that we finally saw something of a class in this one That is what I missed in the previous book This takes place in a boarding school, yet we generally see the kids outside of classes, with the horses, at breakfast dinner lunch tea etc. Yes, I don t need full classes explained, but I would like to see glimpses of them so that the place feelslike a school and less like a fun place with horses I still love that the book features such a big cast and that everyone gets to talk We see Nav, Will, Josh, Anya, Elaine urggghhhh , Kit, and also Rudy.I definitely loved how Rudy tried to be there for his daughter, how he even tried talking to Lady Covington, how the tried to protect her. Will A bit hit and miss for me He was quite whiny and grumbly, and I get that he has to do all sorts of things in the barn, but maybe he should also focus on schoolwork Since that is also important And I also don t get his jealousy with Nav and Kit It is not as if Kit has an interest in Nav PLady Covington Well, let s say I already hated the woman and her idiocy, but in this one I just wanted to get rid of the woman She was terrible, heartless, and a bitch I am sorry, but it is the truth I get that she is the headmistress and she has to be a bit strict, but she is completely heartless Ice cold queen Frankly, I don t get if we get a sobbing back story in the next one, I will never like this woman Anya Well, I normally love that girl, she is one of my favourites, but the crap she pulled in this one Her total lack of common sense or knowledge on how to communicate It just frustrated me to no end Kit doesn t care that you may be a princess, you should know this by now, and you should also understand that OF COURSE she is hurt Friends tell each other stuff, and she also gave away her whole past to you in the beginning She trusted you, and instead of trusting her, you lied And then when Elaine starts to like you for the princess stuff, you just don t get it in your head she is doing this for certain reasons Dear Lord, I would think that anyone would find it suspicious if the meanest girl in the entire school acts all cuddly all the sudden.Lastly, and I will put this under spoilers view spoiler She just effing leaves the school over one girl who sees her as a princess and only that, while her best friend is still unhappy about things I am still not sure how many people are in the school in my opinion maybe 10 15 sorry, but that is how it feels to me, I am always amazed when there is talk about other girls and then there is some name throwing around , but one girl liked you for being a princess and that is reason for you to leave What the hell I get that you are hurt by what happened in the past, but this is just bullpoop hide spoiler Kit, an American teenager attending equestrian school in England, is getting used to life at Covington Academy But she s still not exactly adjusted to life without her mother, even though Kit s widowered father, Rudy, might be moving on And if Kit s favorite but unpredictable horse, TK, doesn t perform well in the upcoming House Cup, TK may be sent away from Covington in Ride Competing for the Cup by author Bobbi JG Weiss. You don t have to be familiar with the related television show to enjoy this second Ride novel, but it ll help a lot if you read Book One first.I was prepared for this novel s measure of corniness, and as with the first book, the style sometimes feltmiddle grade to me than young adult But, hey, YA books have levels, so I think tweens and some younger teens can get a kick out of this.It took me longer to get into this one, as something about the plot and or emotional development felt a bit disjointed to me I m glad I stuck with it, though It s a worthwhile read overall, rather hilarious at times and rather touching at others, and Kit learns some important lessons Also, while one twist comes too suddenly out of left field unless I missed something earlier in the story , I like that I couldn t predict the story s every turn. Now, the abrupt ending in a tough spot definitely requires another book to resolve it Not my favorite way to end a novel, but I m invested enough in Kit, Rudy, and a couple others at the academy to have a genuine interest in Book Three. Great movie companion This should definitely encourage fans of the show to read As a standalone book, it s hard to understand what s going on and who s who if you haven t watched the show or read the previous book which I haven t Since I ve seen part of the show, the book helped me differentiate the male characters, whom I kept mixing up when watching Here, they each present distinctly Since it s based on the show, it s different from the usual horse books of this genre, and isjuvenile Still, it s good in its own way Disclaimer I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This trilogy of books is a cute tween story about an American girl who moves to England with her cowboy dad, where they are both starting fresh at the Covington Academy for equestrian arts Her dad is the new riding instructor trainer, and she has to cope with new culture learning British terms for things as well as the boarding school milieu a new school, and missing her recently deceased mom Kit doesn t ride horses, either, ever since a terrible fall years earlier, and so she doesn t fit in to the horse heavy world of Covington But she, natch, falls in love with a particular horse, an outlaw whom nobody can ride how many books with that premise did I read when I was a teenager Let me count them by the dozens and together maybe they can become an accomplished horse and rider team Along the way, Kit makes new friends, a frenemy, and has entanglements with some cute boys of course Very cute story, very predictable, but, still a fun read Since these books are basically novelizations of the scripts of the first few episodes of the Nickelodeon kids tv series Ride, which a certain adult reviewer may or may not have hunted down and watched onPrimeahem they are full of typical tv characters obligatory stern headmistress, multiculturally diverse but not very layered student characters , fun banter and one liners, sitcom worthy situations, and only a smattering of actual horsey stuff I am sure that there is nothing incorrect about the horse terms and situations in the book, but they certainly seemed very simplistic and tv horseified, if you know what I mean You won t be learning much actual equestrian knowledge from these books or the show But if you re looking for a cute horsey related fish out of water story to give to a tween, these are pretty fun They re a quick read and have genuine heart. Not a fan Thank God I read a former review I attributed my utter confusion as to the characters in this book to senility Only after forging ahead to finish it, do I see that this is a companion book to a Nickelodeon series If I d have known I was supposed to watch a series aside from baseball on television, well, I d have just sent it back Why wasn t I sent a DVD too Mystery and horses are a great combination What is going on with Anya Kit s dad Who are notes coming from Who will emerge as the winner of the house cup Come join Kit and TK as they work on beingof a team.
