This is a great book exploring a relationship, not only a great story well told, but good characterisation One of the real positive things to come out of the book, in my opinion is the exploration of an alternative life style done in an honest three dimensional way, just so enjoyed this bookRic I honestly didn t care for this book The entire first half of the book seemed so wildly improbable that I had a very tough time caring about the characters Besides the situation that Kara found herself in seriously, what sort of person wouldn t tell the man she s agreed to marry about a childhood trauma of that magnitude BEFORE marrying them , the dialog felt very stilted I also had a hard time suspending my disbelief that someone who had gone through what she had gone through would willing allow herself to be a submissive Maybe what I m trying to say is that I could see it happening EVENTUALLY, but not at the virtual drop of a hat like it did here Done correctly, I like stories about Doms and their submissives, however with this story I never felt like it quite got where it was intending to go. Kara Was The Victim Of A Brutal Rape That Occurred When She Was Seven The Event Destroyed Her Family And Left Her Fearful And Distrustful Of Men When Kara S Brother Embezzles , From Slade S Company, Kara Goes To Slade S Office Determined To Talk Him Out Of Going To The Police Slade Wants A Peaceful, Obedient, Submissive With Whom To Share His Life And In Kara He Glimpses What He Wants He Siezes The Opportunity And Makes Kara An Offer She Can T Afford To Refuse The Only Way She Can Save Her Brother From Certain Prison Is To Accept Slade S Marriage Proposal And Become His Submissive Kara Faces Her Wedding With Anxiety She Can T Tell Slade She Can T Submit Sexually Without Risking Her Brother S Freedom, Yet She Doubts She Ll Be Able To Keep Her Promise To Be A Submissive, Obedient Wife This Romance Explores The Role Of Trust In Even The Most Mismatched Of Partnerships And Explores The Complex Connections Between Dominance And Submission While It Demonstrates The Power Of Real Love To Heal Even The Deepest Wounds Kara is in a pickle and through no fault of her own Her brother has gotten himself into a fine mess and she is at his bosses office to beg on her knees if needs be to keep him out of jail. The man Kara needs to persuade his Slade Westin as much as she has spoken to him on the phone and he had told her in no uncertain terms that the matter is out of his hands, it s her brother and she has to make another attempt at trying to resolve this matter. One look at Kara and Slade was lost, despite his resolve to have nothing to do with this matter, once he saw Kara the only thing that comes to mind his innocent and protect Slade is not your typical nice guy, he has a side to him that he doesn t let out to play very often and when he does he makes sure his partners knows the score.Slade is a Dom and not just any Dom but a Dom looking for that one woman who he will cherish and love forever, but who will also give his woman what she wants even if she doesn t realise it is what she needs.Kara just happens to be that woman even if she doesn t realise it and Slade know when not to look a gift horse in the mouth so he offers a deal she really can t refuse Things have a way of backfiring when you least expect it and Kara comes with her set of baggage and none of it any good For Slade this might just be the deal breaking whether his happily ever after is assured or not.I was in need of a good bondage, sub, Dom book and this one was recommended by a friend Firstly this books start off like the traditional Mills Boons love story and to be honest quite a bit of it carries on along that line As a lover of those books myself this book was an immediate hit with me I meet Kara and Slade as individuals before I met them as a couple and so I understood where their heads were at in terms of life, love and responsibilities When the two got together despite the fact that it was not under the best of circumstances I was on tender hooks to see how Slade deal with Kara s issues and over to see if Kara trusted Slade enough to let him inside.A lot of this book deals with patience and trust and it s not a fast read and for the obvious reason It was like a butterfly emerging and it was beautiful to see I likes Slade and Kara and also the fact that the book was written in a bubble effect, so it was just Kara and Slade working their way through years of issues and misconception and doing a grand job of it as well. The story line was easy to follow, there were some topical issues that were deal with and some rather grim moments but I thought Ms Aaron was quite tactful, direct and to the point about the matter so I was able to compartmentalise it and carry on enjoying the book The end game for these two was not rushed and I was pleased to see the unit they presented to me after the tear were done and the sun shined again. Urrrkk, this one is just soo hard to review.I guess that my problems with it are simply that I have little to no understanding of both the major issues here, childhood sexual assault and a D S relationship Bearing that in mind, what did irk me about this book was the degree of repetition Not only of the issues happening within the book, but of the faults and means taken to deal with them Kara fails to tell Slade about things that happened during her attack on many occasions, she worries and agonises that he s going to leave her due to what happened to her in childhood on that basis alone without talking to him about her concerns, despite him asking her what is going on While I don t understand D S roles, I d think that ANY relationship would require open communication than this one shows. Just an okay book for me I didn t quite believe the heroine s issues stemming from her abduction and rape as a child I can t imagine that someone had let her obvious hang ups go on for as long as they did with no one stepping in Surely child protective services or the like would have been involved Something in me didn t ring true with all of this and I can t imagine that she would be so eager to get involved in a relationship with someone who was actively looking for a submissive Borderline book for me D to C. I had a hard time with this book I really tried but I sympathize with Kara s situation, but honestly could not understand where the author was actually going with the story or if she even got there at the end I guess I expected too much Plus I seriously did not like Slade This version of a dominant male just did not sit well with me I felt empty at the end because Kara may have found love but she did not get the help she desperately needed. Not a keeper, a definite donation to the book exchange at work. His Perfect Submissive by Alyssa Aaron was a rather frustrating read My guess is that all of the action in this 304 page novel could probably fit in about 5 pages The other 299 pages were used to express the feelings of the characters over and over again. Why say something once when you can say it several times Why use just one word when 30 will suffice This book was overwhelmingly verbose and difficult to get through I frequently stopped reading because I was frustrated with the pace of the book I definitely cannot recommend this book as a good spanking novel. The heroine in this book was a bit too screwed up for my tastes She had some MAJOR issues from the abuse when she was a child and should have been in counseling ever since What parent wouldn t put their kid in counseling after such a horrific attack I just couldn t believe that the girl could have a sexual relationship with the hero, especially a D s relationship even if it was only a light one, in the state of mind she was in When I read one of these books, I want to be able to enjoy the story and love scenes, not sit there horrified about how screwed up the heroine is.If I can suspend those beliefs, the story wasn t too bad Some parts were rushed then the timeline jumped ahead The hero was too controlling for my tastes, which actually takes a lot So basically, the book was okay but I wouldn t run out and buy it This is the author s first book and she does show some promise so I will keep a lookout for the next one. I will add a review to go with my rating, to explain a few things First of all, the grammar and editing in this book leaves much to be desired Nor is the story outlined very smoothly.HOWEVER, as someone who enjoys the lifestyle as a profound submissive, this book pushed a lot of buttons for me I get tired of the strong, self aware submissive I actually liked that this girl was pretty messed up and that she really needed the dominance of this man to get herself straightened out.I also loved the way the dominant explained why he did what he did as he went along It was spot on for me and it got me hot I loved that he did not cater to her pleasure in every single situation, something that happens far too often in romantic BDSM, in my opinion This book is not perfect, but if you can stomach the editing, it s worth a read Despite all it s many flaws it has a spot on my very small and exclusive keeper shelf.
