Where do I even begin with this? I am trying SO HARD not to write a biased review guys so just believe me I actually HATE reading books that my friends wrote because I'm always worried 'what if I hate it' Then I worry 'what if I love it and nobody believes me because I'm friends with the author?' Well let me tell you THERE IS NO BIAS HERE I loved this book and I will not lie Sure there were moments of predictability but that comes with the territory of MOST fiction While I love books that have gut wrenching twists it is nice to have fun books that leave you just plain happyAnd this book does just that Average girl cute boy monsters kissing and SO MUCH SASS YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE SASS I fucking LOVE Gabi She has SO much sass I was cracking up and uoting her and just I CANNOT get over her I loved her voice LOVED IT And I loved her choices I loved her flaws and her way of thinking I would totally be friends with her She had me at 'I work at a Texas themed convenience store called the Convenience Corral' And then when she went and knocked over a display of chips HILARIOUS When Gabi faces down demons secret organizations and a dwindling wardrobe because the cute guy who is slaying the demons and working for the secret organization keeps getting demon blood on her clothes and RUINING THEM she does it with spunk She doesn't run away and hide or cry She doesn't become a target and she doesn't fall into any of the damsel in distress tropes She is a fighter and just looks at the situation and says 'ew but okay lets do this shit' Months ago I publicly announced that I thought Rafe was a dumb name for a character I didn't know that Melissa had USED the name and effectively stuck my foot in my mouth and down my throat I still hold true to that though not a fan of the name But maybe that's because all of the other Rafe's I've read about SUCK This Rafe HE MADE ME CRY Yes I was sitting at work and Rafe is being all sincere because EVERYTHING he says just makes you want to hug him and be like WHO ARE YOU? HOW ARE YOU SO ADORABLE? but yeah Real tears happenedAnd Chloe Gabi's sister omfg she IS MY SISTER I am just secretly wondering if she was modeled off my own sister WHAT A LITTLE BRAT She was such a real character to me and I just loved the family dynamic so much I also loved Gabi's friends It's so refreshing when the side characters also don't fall into the standard cliche's that most friends fall into in the YA genre Penny and Harrison and Evan were all so well rounded and I just felt like I knew them I've been friends with people like them before I've had dumb fights with girls and had to deal with hot guys who are full of themselves Characters aside there were some things that I did NOT see coming and like I said there are moments of predictability but then there are things just just blew me out of the water I HAVE SO MANY UESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS And the demons THEY ARE SO FREAKY I loved the descriptions of them and the creepy ass names that Gabi gave them I also like the set up of Silver Moon We get enough information that we can understand but there is still SO MUCH MORE to be learned And THE ENDING OMFG HOW CAN IT JUST END LIKE THAT WHO WAS ON THE PHONE? HOW COULD HE DO THAT AHHHH I need the seuel NOWI would also like to note that I basically read this in less than 24 hour COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN

I'm not going to lie my review is going to be entirely bias because I am friends with the author Even knowing this I'm amazingly proud to be Melissa Giorgio friend because her debut novel is a stunning rich and honest storyThis book drew me in from the moment it started Gabi's world is full of sass and sarcasm and when it's fliped turned upside down she still still finds ways to spin humor into even the worst situations What I particularly loved was her narrative voice she felt so honest and reacted in ways that felt so natural The characters in this story were fleshed out in such a way that they didn't feel like props they were people through and through I found myself genuinely surprised as to how much I felt for the characters in this story particularly Gabi's father who struggles to deal with raising two girls on his own and his mannerisms reminding me of how my own mother responds in situations I eually loved Chloe and Evan as they were both acting out in different ways to cope with their own problemsBut the character I particularly loved was Rafe I loved how goofy and sweet he is but he also has this raw side that comes across so genuine You believe the words he's telling you he knows his flaws he's not ashamed to admit to who he is and I always appreciate characters like that The chemistry between him and Gabi as felt very natural They way they bantered back and forth really made me smile Melissa does such an amazing job of never missing a beat when it comes to strengthening relationships between characters something I think she is so talented atThis story is such a fun ride and the demon element is handled in such a way where it's creepy uirky and just plain fun There's just enough action and romance for those who love the paranormal I realize how biased I may sound but I truly adored this story and I couldn't stop flipping pages because I wanted to see how the story changed and how these characters would grow I sincerely can't wait to see the rest of Melissa's efforts and I look forward to Gabi and Rafe's next endeavor

very much enjoyed the first book of The Sight Seer series Gabi and Rafe make a great pair Here's the blurbGabi Harkins likes to think she's a pretty normal sixteen year old She goes to school suffers though an awful part time job and deals with a bratty younger sister But when a potential shoplifter morphs into a monster right in front of her Gabi realizes her life is far from normal especially when that monster follows her home and ends up battling a boy wielding a sword in her backyardThe boy Rafe Fitzgerald is a member of Silver Moon an organization devoted to eradicating demons before they kill humans If this little bit of news isn't earth shattering enough Rafe reveals that he needs Gabi's help As strong as Rafe is he does not possess the Sight a rare ability that allows a hunter to See through a demon's glamour enabling them to strike before the demon does But guess who does? While Gabi is reluctant to face another demon she knows she owes Rafe big time for saving her Together they're thrown headfirst into heart stopping situations as they battle newer and frightening demons When she starts to fall for Rafe Gabi knows her normal life is gone foreverThe battle scenes are great but it is the chemistry between Rafe and Gabi that really moves the story and leaves you wanting I can't wait to get my hands on book 2

This and other reviews can be found on The Psychotic Nerd I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review MY THOUGHTS This book has an idea that is very common in YA books a teenage girl being able to see through glamour but it was executed so well and I loved itThe book focuses on Gabi who runs into a hideous shoplifting monster at work Later the same monster followed her home and she sees a boy fighting said monster Turns out that the boy Rafe is a demon hunter and just saved her life but is surprised to find out that Gabi has the Sight Gabi is able to see through a demon's glamour which is very uncommon for those who are not demon hunters Rafe needs Gabi's help to hunt down demonsI had issues with Gabi at first I didn't particularly like her voice and I thought she was a bit immature It also bothered me how long it took her to put together what was going on As the book went on I began to like Gabi and her voice It still bothered me how long it took her to put things together thoughAs far as romance I thought it was great It didn't take up the entire plot and it wasn't an insta love Rafe is such a great character and I really like Gabi and his relationshipThe plot while I've read many books with the general plot became much and surprised me The book became very fact paced once Gabi and Rafe met and it was very thrilling IN CONCLUSION This was a really great read I had a few issues in the beginning but I eventually grew to love both the plot and the characters I'm definitely continuing the series In fact I have an ecopy of the next book waiting for me on my ereader

I want this review to be completely honest and unbiased since I know the author So here goes I don't read a ton of YA; it just isn't my first choice of genre to read But I do read it occasionally That being said I'll go into the review I actually had a hard time with Gabi at first She just seemed a tad over dramatic and immature yes I know she's 16 But as the story progressed I started liking her I would be totally happy without the high school drama crap one reason I don't always enjoy YA but it was a pretty small part and it worked out okay I did like Rafe a lot though sometimes he was just a little unrealistic to me The storyline itself was great and I enjoyed the different descriptions of the demons The book moved really uickly which I also enjoyed Evan was great; he's definitely my favorite character And no love triangle I was really happy about that I'm interested to see what happens in the next book and how the characters will evolve

The Sight Seer is an awesome debut from writer Melissa Giorgio Gabi a high school student whose highlight in life is working at the Convenience Corral has a simple goal of getting through her four hour shift of boredom Until a confrontation with a shoplifter—a demon—who stalks her home Luckily demon hunter Rafe Fitzgerald was in the neighborhood to save Gabi’s patooty When Rafe realizes Gabi can See demons a talent he doesn’t possess he convinces her to team up with him which leads to tons of trouble for Gabi and her family The awkward budding relationship between Gabi and Rafe is a delight to watch and Gabi’s personality adds a touch of fun to dangerous situations Can’t wait for the seuel

I don't have a whole lot to say about this book except to praise it's protagonist Gabi She is such a real person easily one of the most realistic teenage girls I've read in a long time She has uite the distinct voice and is filled to the brim with sarcasmThank goodness no love triangle It's kind of refreshing for the main character to just date one person No angst Honestly that's my favorite part of the book
